OH MY GOD I RELATE TO YOUR POST ABOUT STUFF MISSING SO MUCH!!! i usually don't mind sharing but people are so damn disrespectful and just help themselves to my stuff without ever sharing any of their own! recently my huge pyrex salad bowl and lid went missing and i HADN'T EVEN USED IT YET, but of course nobody has seen it or has any idea what happened to it even though i saw somebody using it and then it disappeared. SO ANNOYING UGH.

Ugh! It’s so frustrating! My FIL once burned up one of my pyrex dishes on the grill (WTF?!) before I even got to use it. Those things aren’t cheap!

And I bought a set of those Rubbermaid storage containers that the lids pop on the bottoms, and now I have like 20 lids and 10 containers. I don’t even understand how that happens!

I’m sorry that you know my pain.

42. what do you want to be when you grow up?

An author. =]

I’m working on it. Right now on a young adult fantasy novel that I hope to turn into a series.

I also plan on publishing my memoirs on growing up HIV+ in an HIV+ family, but I want to write mostly fiction. .

eatyourpaisley asked:
how old was thaddeus when you got him? does he enjoy contact and affection? i've had 2 hedgehogs and both of them were the biggest grumps ever

Thaddeus was a rescue, so I don’t know his exact age. I estimate that he was about 3 months old based on how small he was when I got him.

He has his moments. Sometimes he is perfectly content to be snuggled, but then the next day he wants nothing to do with it at all.

I’ve had three hedgies and he kinda falls in the middle of them, personality wise. My first hedgie, Quillson, was a majorly snuggler. He was happiest being held and sleeping on me. My second hedgie, Theodore, was the exact opposite. He was happiest being left to run free and explore and hated to be held.

It’s funny how different their little personalities can be.

savingpeople asked:
Do you think the Midwest Expandable Guinea Habitat is a good idea for my hedgehog's new cage? I'm getting it off of amazon because it was a lot cheaper than petsmart.

Oh wow! I really like that cage! It looks like it provides lots of room and is easy to assemble. The only concerns I’d have is that it will probably be necessary to get the cover as well, especially if you have dogs or cats. Hedgies aren’t big climbers, but they certainly can, too. And the canvas bottom might prove tedious to keep clean, but that could probably be easily fixed by laying a piece of chloropast between the bottom and your bedding. And it’s so cheap!

Oh, and I would make sure to put it on top of a table or something, because being on the floor will probably be too cool for your hedgehog.

I am bookmarking it for future use! Thanks!

I've been on your blog for about an hour now. I tried to get my baby Dexter to come out to see the pictures but she was too interested in burrowing into my sweater.

Yay! This makes me so happy! =D

Dexter sounds a lot like Thaddy. He never cares aboit the cute stuff I try to how him. Haha!

you are supaaaa awesome!!

Haha, awww! Thank you so much! I need to hear this today because I’m majorly stressed out.

YOU’RE AWESOME!

I'm so glad your blog is here. I don't know what I would do without it. Somethings first time hedgehog owners just don't know and the almighty google doesn't always have the answers.

Thank you so much for that. I really, really appreciate it. I am by no means an expert in all things hedgehog, but I do like to help when I can. =]

I have to take the wheel out of my hedgehogs cage because it seems she has ran too much. I have a paper towel under her wheel and there was a little bit of red on it and I'm scared she hurt her feet, What toy can I put it there over night so she doesn't get bored? Should I just not give her anything and let her rest her feet?

Yeah, I would take the wheel out for a bit and let her feet heal up. Luckily, they heal very quickly. Just make sure they stay clean for a few days.  Sometimes it’s just a small cut between the toes that seems to leave behind a lot of blood.

She will probably get super restless without her wheel, and will trash her cage until you put it back in. I’m not sure what other toys would work as a substitute for the almighty wheel, but you can try some to see if they help her pass the time.

kazombie asked:
Just for curiosity sake- why do you use the term lover? Versus more conventional terms as boyfriend, or significant other ect. I think it's a super cute term to use!

Haha! Thanks.

I use it because we have been together what for what feels like too long to use boyfriend. (12 years. It feels like an insignificant term.) And while I have an “engagement ring” we don’t plan on ever getting legally married (for lots of reasons), so fiancée just feels weird. Plus, it just sounds goofy as hell to me. Haha!

We are a little unconventional in a lot of ways, so it’s been hard to find a term that feels right to me.

I do occasionally call him my partner, but lover is much more fitting. =]

I'm looking into getting my hedgehog a new cage because I fear the original cage my friend gave me is getting too small. What cage would you recommend getting? I've been cruising around petsmarts website for a few hours now I'm just afraid I'll get one too small and can't decide. Would you please send me a link to a good cage if that's not too much trouble. Money isn't too big of a deal because all my job money goes to her.

Cubes and chloroplast cages are the best because they are cheap, completely customizable, and easy to make. I hope to make one for my hedgie one day when I have less of a space issue. I want to make him a hedgehog mansion. =]

Here’s a great site about building a C&C cage. There is also a ton of info available on the Hedgehog Central forums.

I cried when I read about you losing Quillson. I've only had my baby Jo three weeks, but she's my life (And she knows it), I couldn't imagine losing her. I also followed your personal blog, I find you amazing! Huffs and puffs from my baby Jo.

Aww! Thank you so much. <3

I still get choked up when I think about Quillson. He was so, so special in so many ways.

Following back. =]

I want to get my hedgehog some baby food to try out but I was wondering what stage I should get. Since there are like 3 stages, I wasn't sure if stage 3 would be okay or if I should go with 2 or 1?

I always just get plain old pureed Gerber or Beech Nut.  I guess I’ve never paid attention to the differences in the stages. =\ Sorry about that, but I’m sure that most baby food is okay seeing as it generally doesn’t have spices, or sugars, or anything like that.

Thank you for liking it! =D

dorksaursrex asked:
Yea, he's not much of a player hehe. but thanks anyways!!! What kind of wheel do you use for your hedgies? I have a large one that he runs well on, but I've heard a few different ones people enjoy more. I just can't remember them anymore since my old laptop crashed and I'm borrowing this one

I love, love, love my Carolina Storm Wheel. It’absolutely fantastic and Thaddeus runs much more on it thanhis previous wheels.

dorksaursrex asked:
I've tried the pill bottle. My lil guy had no interest in it lol. the main thing he's enjoyed is dragging all the fleece strips out of his burrow box lol

I elaborated more on the previous ask. My window glitched before I could finish it.

Yeah, some hedges just don’t like toys, so don’t stress about it if he only likes a few things.
